Bas – Quarter Water Raised Me Vol. ii Album Review

So I got a little treat in the inbox and it’s from an artist that I haven’t heard much from before. Dude is on DreamVille so he gotta have some heat. I’m curious about a few things and that’s will he sound like J.Cole, if not has he found his voice, does his sound blend right in with all of the monkey say monkey do shit that’s out today, and finally can he make me a fan. This should be interesting so let’s get into it. Continue reading

Black Milk – Synth or Soul Instrumental Album Review

FINAL11013-SynthOrSoul-12Jacket“Black Milk collaborates with illustrator Upendo “Pen” Taylor (Nike, Leroy Jenkins, Gatorade) for the music-meets-visual instrumental/art series Fuzz, Freqs & Colors (FFC). Synth or Soul is the first volume in the FFC series. The process for each volume starts with Black and Pen trading beats and sketches and refining their works along the way. Throughout that exchange, the music is shaped by the visual art and the visual art is shaped by the music.

FFC is the first project launched by the new creative house Computer Ugly.”

Computer Ugly Ugly
A mixed bag of grooves with a soft set a stiff drums to go with a sound bite that keeps yelling “Ugly!!!!”. No real melody but the synths will get your head moving after about a minute or so. Its an ok beat according to Black Milk standards. The talking at the beginning was a good touch. Continue reading

Intro
Whats its all about?!!? “Doe or Die, kid!”

Uncut Raw
No need for lactose. Til this day, this is one of my favorite AZ tracks. Its gritty, sinister and the verses trump his most famous verse from “Life’s A B$$$h” (ok, maybe I’m buggin but its pretty damn good). Hence the title, this is the purest lyrical form of Anthony Sosa. A short but enjoyable track that is worthy of a repeat. The hidden gem of the album in this one.

Poverty-stricken, they even turn a church kid into stickin
It seems sickenin, but what? Whatever makes the pockets thickin Continue reading

THC – Now Dream

THC- Now Dream from Produced By THC on Vimeo.

At this point I’m scared to click on the play button for anything that they release. The product has been so good that I’m afraid of the day when my high expectation meet a harsh reality. For now I’m lay back and chill to this Now Dream.
